Books And Brightness

Quezon City, The Philippines’ very own version of The Flash’s Central City; An extensive city filled with lights and signs of development; a city that makes the cultures of the old blend in with the new. But despite of this wondrous image, just like any other city, it has its fair share of tales, both wondrous and melancholic.
This is one of those tales. This story is about Han, the studious and adventurous teenager filled with the hopes and dreams of many; motivated and driven by his dream of succeeding.  While most people his age may spend their time partying or having fun, Han spends most of his nights working to help himself, while he spends most of his days studying.  Now this situation might sound harsh, but this is the sad reality for Han. Ever since he lost both of his parents in a vehicular accident, he had no one to lean on but himself.  He was not only robbed of his parents, but of his childhood as well.  With his books being his only escape from the harshness of the reality of his life. Every time that he felt the pain creeping back, he read about the things that felt similar to what his heart speaks and in time, he also began to write about individuals with similar cases to him; most of his books were about grief and tragedy, elements which reflected what had happened to his own life.
After finishing his studies, he continued to sharpen his skills in writing and in time, this hard work flourished and bore fruit. His writing was noticed at first by his former classmates, which then spread to his former teachers, one of who was also a writer himself, This was Mr. Allen; Mr. Allen was fascinated by the way Han wrote his books; he felt the emotions contained within each page. Han’s writing inspired Mr. Allen to help spread around his writing, and in turn, Han became a staple author at REX Bookstore INC.
After pondering on how his life turned out, Han realized that he had come full circle; from being a simple child who was left at the hands of sadness with nothing but his books as his escape into the talented author that writes books that now inspire and motivate younger individuals who face the situation that he once did.

The REXperience

"An activity that we must attend as it is a requirement for us to be able to graduate in senior high school"   That was my mind-set on what the Work Immersion Program(WIP) is. Based on what I have heard about the program, I thought that I would just be in charge of running errands for the superiors such as buying them food, office materials, and cellphone load. But despite of this, I felt very excited because I will be able to reunite with my friends and classmates. OJTs from the Editorial and Creatives Departments At the first day of our WIP, I was impressed on how they welcomed us. The employees were very accommodating; they toured us around the workplace and I must say, their office was really well-organized. On the succeeding days as part of the Editorial OJT team together with the Creatives OJT team; we, as a team, were all thankful that we were assigned in our respective departments where we were able to enhance our skills and knowledge through the guidance...

Facing the Lair of adversities in being an Exemplary employee

Being an Associate Editor is a tedious task in itself, but for Sir Heinrick G. Rabara, such is a challenging yet rewarding job; for he is a law student as well. He is currently employed in REX Book Store Inc. as an Associate Editor for Law Education. He graduated Cum laude at Araullo University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Currently, he is taking Law at Adamson University . His job is a road of hardships and adversities but still manages to perform well at work and at school as well. Contrary to popular belief, being an Associate Editor is not just about copyediting the author’s work; one should also possess ideal communication skills which are necessary addressing the author about his or her specific styles and in communicating with other departments of the company. One should also withhold a decorous reasoning skills especially when asked, and of course the willingness to the given task. Time is a huge factor to Sir Heinrick’s day. Working a...
